They say beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. But my dearest, how true is this in this generation? We live in a society where every inch of your size and every strand of your hair can give people an opinion about you. Is there really a certain set of standards for beauty? I can say for a fact that most of us have curled up like a worm on the bathroom floor and wept because we don’t fit into this society’s unrealistic beauty needs. You could be too short, too tall, too fat, too thin, too dark, or too fair but never perfect for their standards. This imperfect society somehow expects you to check all the boxes of its expectations. And amidst these criticisms, we forget to notice that the dark clouds are the ones that bring the joyful rain.
Now, have an honest talk with yourself. Have you ever looked in the mirror and wished to be more like “that girl” or “that guy?” Just randomly wondered why you do not have that flawless skin or that perfect hourglass body? The answer is simple, isn’t it? You’re not a supermodel and being flawless is not your job however you are an exclusive and limited edition of yourself.
Beauty exists in every shape, size, and colour. Beauty is beyond any particular standard. You are beautiful and you need to embrace your individuality. It is your body and as long as you’re in a healthy state, it’s perfect. Do exercise regularly and follow a good diet. Do this to grow stronger and healthier. Do it for yourself and not for others. You are unique and your individuality is your limelight. From now on let us strive to build a healthier version of ourselves and not give in to society’s foolish expectations.
Every scar, every curve, and every edge of your body tells a unique story of yours so let us learn to embrace all our perfect imperfections. Remember no one is born ugly, we are all born in a judgemental society and it’s our duty to make this society a more body-positive one. Shower compliments to others for the slightest hint of beauty. Let us spread smiles and love.
