E-MAGAZINE: A LEARNING JOURNEY

II EIE

I have always wondered what could make a person capable of doing great things in life, it took me years to conclude it after observing and learning from the people around me that it’s the ability to communicate effectively. Greatest leaders hold effortless communication skills and convincing capabilities. And after realising this, I ended up exploring my interests in improving my skills in speaking, listening, and writing. Further, I discovered that among these three the most important as well as the insightful task to learn and explore was writing. It was that time when SRM VEC launched an E-MAGAZINE committee and fortunately, I was a part of it. I was among the editorial team which got the tasks to edit as well as correct the grammatical or spelling errors. I was also a team member of the THOUGHT CRIME segment of the e-magazine which promoted out-of-the-box thinking and offered me to write on the topics with my original perspective which supported my vision over an optimistic view. The e-magazine not only gave me a flavour of drafting skills but also gave me new friends from other departments with whom I further paired up to participate in different conferences like the MUN conference. I was impressed by the fact that students from SRM VEC designed the e-magazine entirely from scratch to completion. The importance of teamwork and the making of dream work was taught to the students in a very meticulous way by the English department by letting students explore their language interests. Being a part of this e-magazine committee has been a valuable opportunity for me to develop my soft skills across various disciplines, for which I am grateful.
