Rooted in Leadership: An Inspiring Conversation with Our Agricultural Engineering HoD

We had the honour of speaking with our distinguished Head of Department of Agricultural Engineering. With a wealth of experience and a deep passion for education, she offered valuable insights on leadership, motivation, and the fulfillment she finds in teaching. Her perspective on cultivating an inspiring learning environment and her commitment to empowering students highlights the true essence of academic leadership. She shared how embracing challenges and continuous growth has shaped her journey, both personally and professionally.

1. What inspired you to pursue a career in academia?

“I’m proud to be a teacher. The opportunity to shape young minds and contribute both educationally and emotionally to students is deeply fulfilling. Teachers have the power to create wonders in a student’s life, and that sense of purpose inspired me to choose this path.”

2. What is the most rewarding aspect of your role as a department head?

“It’s certainly not easy—being promoted to a position with major responsibilities is a significant step. But the journey has been enthusiastic and fulfilling. Supporting students not only in academics but also in extracurricular activities, and watching young talents bloom has been incredibly rewarding. The greatest reward, however, has been the heartfelt feedback from students who’ve gone on to achieve success in prestigious international universities.”

3. What advice would you give to young women aspiring to take up leadership roles?

“Never compromise your goals or desires due to emotional circumstances. Women have an incredible ability to balance both their personal and professional lives with grace and strength. Believe in your potential.”

4. What do you think are the key qualities of a good leader?

“A good leader is a team player, a motivator, and someone who encourages others to focus on their strengths. Leadership is about overcoming challenges, thinking rationally, making sound decisions, and delegating tasks wisely based on each team member’s abilities.”

5. What’s a personal mantra or philosophy that you live by?

“My mantra is simple: Be happy. Always find reasons to be happy, spread positivity, and most importantly, believe in yourself. Challenges are nothing but hidden opportunities waiting to be unlocked.”

Our Agricultural Engineering HoD’s journey is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and purpose. Her insights reflect not only the depth of her experience but also her unwavering commitment to student growth and academic excellence.
