Kiran’s Noble Journey

In a world where hunger remains a persistent issue, Mr. KIRAN AJAY of SRMVREC College is stepping up to make a meaningful impact through an initiative called “Feed for Cause.”

Since its inception in 2020, Feed for Cause has been dedicated to serving individuals with small savings, aiming to make a big impact in their lives. What started as a noble initiative by a group of five friends has now blossomed into a thriving organisation, with over ten dedicated members working tirelessly to bring about positive change in the community.

At the heart of this movement are compassionate college students (Jeffrey Johnson. J, Malavika. G. B, Sai Yuvaraj. H, Kishore. S, Felix Mathew, Rakesh, Rithick and Irfan) refusing to turn a blind eye to the hunger crisis in their communities, one such student is KIRAN AJAY, a student from the Department of Information Technology. “I’ve always been passionate about sustainability,” he explains. “When I learnt about the amount of food wasted every day, I knew I had to do something about it.” Kiran, along with a group of five friends who shared his vision, founded ‘Feed for Cause’.

On June 1st, 2023, ‘Feed for Cause’ officially began its journey with a simple yet powerful mission: to raise funds and serve those in need. From roadside dwellers to orphanages and old-age homes, the organisation has been committed to providing essential necessities such as food, water, and blankets to those who need them most.

‘Feed for Cause’ doesn’t just alleviate hunger; it also fosters a sense of unity and empathy. Students from diverse backgrounds come together, united by a common goal: to make a positive impact on society. “

In its inaugural year, ‘Feed for Cause’ made a significant impact, serving a total of 1363 people, distributing over 30 blankets, and caring for 25+ stray dogs. This initial success only fuelled their determination to do more in the years to come.

As college students, they may be young, but their determination and passion are boundless. They are committed to building a brighter, more equitable future for all. In the fight against hunger, they are leading by example, proving that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a ripple effect that transforms lives. With their unwavering dedication, ‘Feed for Cause’ is not just feeding people; it’s feeding hope.

In 2024, ‘Feed for Cause’ continued its noble work, surpassing expectations by serving over 400 individuals. What sets this organisation apart is not only its dedication to providing physical necessities but also its commitment to bringing joy and companionship to those they serve. Birthdays are celebrated with the less fortunate, as volunteers join in to serve lunch at orphanages and old-age homes, spreading love and kindness wherever they go.

At the heart of ‘Feed for Cause’  believe in transformation, encapsulated by their motto, #மாற்றம் (change). They also celebrated Women’s Day with a special touch, as the organisation gifted over 10 sarees to women in need, creating moments of connection and understanding as they shared their life stories with the volunteers.

By raising awareness about food waste and hunger, these students are sparking conversations and thus inspiring others to take action. Through social media campaigns, fundraising events, and educational workshops, they are amplifying their message and mobilizing support for their cause.

Looking towards the future, ‘Feed for Cause’ aims to expand its reach even further, with plans to provide education to children, transform the lives of roadside dwellers, and continue caring for stray dogs. Their journey can be followed on Instagram (@feed_for_cause).

As Kiran and his crew grow, they are expanding their ‘Feed for Cause’ initiative. They serve as a shining example of how young individuals can come together to create positive change in the world. With every meal served, they are making a profound impact on the lives of others.
