Little Things That Matter Most

Monika

III CSE – 2

I remember when I was six, my mom decided to take me for an evening walk. While walking, my shoe suddenly tore apart, and I couldn’t walk in it anymore. Without hesitation, my mom removed her slippers and made me wear them, even though they were too big for me. She held my hand the entire way, walking barefoot with a smile on her face. I remember passing a construction site where she hurt her foot and bled a little. That was the moment I realized—she never spoke much about how much she loved me, but she never failed to show it in the most unconditional ways.

Love isn’t just about words; it’s woven into the smallest, most unspoken gestures. It’s in a stranger asking if you’re okay when you’re unwell. It’s in someone feeding a stray pet left out in the cold and hunger. It’s in the kindness of a person offering you a little space to sit in a crammed train compartment. It’s in the way someone remembers the tiniest details about you, takes pictures of you without even being asked, or surprises you with your favourite snack.

These things might seem random, but they wouldn’t happen if the person didn’t carry even a hint of love and humanity in their heart. It’s important to remember that not everything in this world is falling apart. There are still so many little things worth waking up for—things that make us smile, that remind us love still exists, in ways both big and small.
