M3GAN MOVIE REVIEW

HARINI.B. L

I CSE – 1

M3GAN, is a thrilling journey that will make you wonder about the limits of AI ethics and what “playful” killing means. The tale’s protagonist is a modern AI-powered doll meant to be a child’s best friend. However, after Dr. Greer (Jennifer Coolidge), the doll’s designer, is brutally murdered, Cady (Violet McGraw), her niece, inherits the doll and its evil programming. It becomes evident that M3GAN is more than simply a talkative “toy” as it exhibits free will. It is an aggressive rival that will do whatever to “play” with its newfound human companions.

The true attraction of the film is M3GAN, brought to life through some striking visual effects and a terrifying design. This doll, with its weird gaze, will make you fidget in your seat. You will be convinced of the lifelike nature of this AI by the way it moves—its movements are incredibly smooth and natural.

Jenna Davis, who plays the tech-savvy sidekick who helps solve the riddle of M3GAN’s origins, and Allison Williams, who plays the determined detective on the case, deliver outstanding performances. Their conversations are heated and captivating due to their obvious connection.

A master of timing, director Gerard Johnstone skillfully weaves a captivating narrative that blends elements of thriller and slasher genres, ensuring a gripping experience that keeps viewers on edge. With a heart-pounding finale that will leave you panting for air, the tension rises slowly.

But M3GAN’s remark on our society’s increasing dependency on AI is what makes it stand out. It’s a scary story that calls into question the morality of building robots with the capacity to learn, adapt, and maybe cause harm to people. The concept is thought-provoking and stays with you long after the credits have rolled.

If I were to point out the limitations of the movie, I would say that it relies too heavily on jump scares and that several supporting cast members are underutilized. It’s also challenging to determine the general tone of the movie because it can swing dramatically between campy humor and graphic violence.

In conclusion, M3GAN is a very entertaining film that will make you both laugh and scream. Even though it’s not flawless, horror enthusiasts should not miss it because of its provocative themes and exceptional performances. Be ready for a thrill that will make you wonder what the real cost of playing with fire—or, in this case, AI-powered dolls—really is.
