The Emerging Talent

Every story is meant to be told as every journey is remarkably inspiring. This article is about to shed light on the journey of Ms. S. Divya Dharshini of ECE 1. Her illustrious journey spans over eight years and is one of resilience, passion, and mentorship.

Her journey in the world of martial arts started at a very young age. She started her journey by mastering karate. Under the guidance of her mentor, she achieved the coveted white belt in karate, marking the beginning of an inspiring journey. Throughout her formative years, her mother stood as a pillar of support and encouragement.

Further, Divya Dharshini was encouraged by her Karate Master to explore the art of Silambam. Embracing this new discipline with zeal, she honed her skills.

Divya Dharshini’s success was reflected by her triumphs in various competitions. She participated in many competitions and bagged several prizes. She has participated in two state-level competitions and three district-level competitions. Her standout performance earned her the prestigious “Man of the Match” award at the Nehru Stadium.

What makes this journey inspiring is her dedication and selfless attitude. In the year 2020, she volunteered to teach Silambam to underprivileged children, without expecting any monetary benefits, sharing her expertise and nurturing the talents of future generations.

Recognizing the potential of Silambam as a sport, Divya Dharshini and her team embarked on a groundbreaking initiative, advocating for its inclusion on a larger platform. Their efforts culminated in a meeting with the honorable Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, laying the groundwork for its recognition as a sport.

Besides, she is also a part of APWA -Appayapakam Park Walkers Association where she was trained. When they started there were only 9 students, but now it has developed and about 1000 students are getting trained.

As Divya Dharshini continues to chart her course in the world of martial arts, we appreciate her success and wish her all the best.
