Cultivating Growth and Green Business

It is often said that great things have small beginnings. A. Listhi Roger’s entrepreneurial journey began not in a boardroom, but in a classroom—specifically, when he was in Grade 8 and his brother was in Grade 12. What started as a small venture with investments in the thousands has today grown into Alagu Crackers, a multi-crore enterprise based in Theni, standing tall as a testament to their shared vision and resilience.

This year marks a monumental milestone for the enterprise. They have successfully launched their own factory, providing employment to over 1,000 laborers. However, for Listhi and his brother, business has never been just about profits; it is about responsibility. Deeply conscious of the environmental impact of traditional fireworks, they pivoted to manufacturing Green Crackers. These eco-friendly alternatives significantly reduce emission rates, allowing people to celebrate tradition without compromising the health of the planet.

Listhi’s passion for nature is not just a business strategy; it is his heritage. Coming from an agricultural background, he chose Agricultural Engineering as his career path to bridge the gap between tradition and technology. Beyond pyrotechnics, the family is deeply rooted in the soil, cultivating over 30,000 banana trees annually and exporting their produce to Spain and other European nations.

For Listhi, sustainability is a personal pledge. For the past five years, he has committed to planting 1,000 trees every year, ensuring that he gives back to the earth that sustains them.

None of this would be possible without his family, who have been his backbone, and especially his brother. The brother is his mentor and inspiration, the one who paved the path for Listhi’s career and taught him the true essence of business and leadership. As Listhi continues his studies and expands their horizons, he carries the belief that they can build empires while still protecting their roots.
