THE UNSPOKEN LOVE BETWEEN A FATHER AND SON

AMALESHWARDHANAN K

I AI & DS 1

Some love in this world is loud, full of words and hugs. But there is also a kind of love that is silent, but still the strongest. That is the love between a father and a child. A father might not say “I love you” every day, he may not show his emotions openly, but still his heart cares more than anyone else in the world.

From childhood, a father becomes the first hero for many of us. He wakes up early and
goes to work, even when he is tired. He sacrifices his dreams so his child can fulfill theirs. Many people think their father is always strong, but only a few understand that he also feels pain inside, he experiences stress, and has his own worries. Still, he hides everything behind a smile, because he doesn’t want his child to feel sad.

A father’s love rarely expresses itself through words. Here, actions speak louder than words. It is in the way he holds his child’s hand while crossing the road. It is in the way he teaches us how to ride a cycle, and runs behind us even when he is scared that we might fall down. It is in the way he gives the last piece of food, saying he is not hungry. It is in the way he pretends to be strict, but actually, he is protecting us from the world.

As we grow up, we slowly forget to acknowledge his efforts. We start to argue, we say he don’t understand us, we think he is too strict. But behind every rule he makes, there is a fear of losing us and a wish to see us safe and successful. Sometimes we think mothers love more because they express their feelings openly. But a father loves equally, just in a silent language that only the heart can understand.

One day, when life becomes hard, when we step into struggles and responsibilities, we
suddenly remember our father. We start to understand how much he gave us without
asking anything in return. We realize that all his anger was actually love, all his strictness
was actually care.

The saddest part is that we understand our father’s love only when we grow up. And sometimes, when it is too late.

So while he is still here with us, let us appreciate him. Let us say thank you. Let us make
him smile. He may not ask for love, but he deserves the whole world. Because a father is
the person who stands behind us, silently holding us every time we fall.
